NO CHOICE AT LEFT BACK

Seattle Sounders manager Sigi Schmid was recently left with a major choice to make after his left back Dylan Remick suffered an injury during the match against Philadelphia Union. The manager was left with only two options, but he needed to get the team back after conceding goals in the first half.

Hence, he was left with no alternative but to make an attacking change by putting midfielder Brad Evans in this position. This substitution was a treat after the midfielder contributed heavily from this position.

Seattle Sounders managed to win the match 2-1 and this is the fourth consecutive win for the team. This helped them go top of the table with a two-point advantage over second placed Real Salt Lake.

There was much praise for Evans in this position, most notably from the fan sites such as pays bas espagne cote. This led to the midfielder stating that he is now considered the possibility of featuring as the left back for the US national team. This would not only give his national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann a lot of options in the squad for the World Cup 2014, but it would also allow the team to take advantage of the energy provided by Evans.

Schmid also praised the contribution of his player by saying that his versatility is a major positive aspect for the club.

“I thought he did well there. That’s Brad thing, is versatility. That’s part of what we need him to do,” said the manager after the match. “Guys found me with space and the ball, that makes it easy. I treat it as an attacking position, especially if we keep the ball – it makes it a lot easier. When you’re pressing at home, it makes it easy. There were a couple times where their forward was checking off and their winger is hanging on the line,” said Evans.
